Ivan & Alyosha’s “All the Times We Had” at the Showbox

This Saturday, Seattle band Ivan & Alyosha will be releasing their first full-length album “All the Times We Had” at a very special show at Showbox at the Market.  Kris Orlowski, Smokey Brights, and the Passenger String Quartet round out the stellar lineup on this night of celebration.  Ivan & Alyosha’s  unique classic rock-infused folk sound has been recognized by NPR, leading their song “Easy to Love” to be Song of the Day on the renowned radio giant. After three successful EPs that have slowly gained speed, it’s pretty clear that their first full-length effort will provide a launchpad for success.

Kris Orlowski will be sharing the bill this weekend as well, just days after having his song “Mountains” featured on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy (which aired yesterday). For the record, I’ve written about Kris Orlowski before, and my opinion hasn’t changed much since then. His performances are always captivating, and his songs thrive on the stage. His collaborations with the Passenger String Quartet are moving pieces of music, melding classical arrangements with modern folk-rock flare. In other words, it’s good. You’ll like it. Make sure to catch his set.

Smokey Brights open the night with their own take on rock n’ roll, with hints of old-timy rawness that’s sure to get the groove going. Catchy songs and honest lyrics reel you in and should go well with your first drink of the evening.
