Chinook Fest Lineup Release Party

Chinook Fest Lineup Release Party

There is no denying that Cody Beebe and the Crooks have been busy building a name for themselves in the Pacific Northwest this year.  With new music videos, special performances during the Seahawks tailgate parties, an appearance on New Day Northwest, a few tours including one with Austin Jenkes of The Voice, and with Cody and Eric working on a new side-project called Rust On The Rails (mentioned in more detail below), all while preparing for the 2014 Chinook Fest, these guys have really taken off.  Everything they touch turns to AWESOME, and I’ve really enjoyed following their progress and adventures this year.  Which brings us to this evening… the 2014 Chinook Fest lineup release party.

Chinook Fest

This year, there will be two lineup release parties, one in Seattle on April 4th at the Crocodile, and the second in Yakima on April 5th at the Seasons Performance Hall.  Both performances are all ages, and there will be an opportunity to buy festival and camp site tickets at the early bird discounted price.  Being that they sold out in 2013 and everyone left saying they couldn’t wait until next year, you may want to get online and purchase your tickets sooner rather than later.  Between the incredible 27 band lineup, the amazing backdrop and environment and the desirable row of vendors, you won’t be disappointed.

Robert Jon & the Wreck

This is also the debut performance for Cody Beebe and Blake Noble’s new project called Rust on the Rails. Cody and Blake will be joined on stage by Eric Miller (bass), Tim Snider (violin) and Scott Mercado (drummer from Candlebox).  Other performances will include Robert Jon & the Wreck, one of my favorite performances of last year’s Chinook Fest; SweetKiss Momma, a southern roots rock band from…Puyallup (don’t let that fool you); and Seattle singer-songwriter, Nick Foster.  It should be a great evening showcasing the juxtaposition of the folky singer-songerwriter vibe and the knock-your-socks-off roots rock show atmosphere.

Cody Beebe and Eric Miller

Cody, Eric and I met up for a quick bite to eat last summer before their gig supporting Blake Noble during his Album Release show.  We grabbed some food at the Fremont taco truck and took it over to Cafe Ladro to sit down and write.

There once was a man who walked in red boots,
his one aspiration: his collection of flutes.
With a weathered fedora and teathered lips,
his red boots went knocking; a swayin’, his hips.
He put his heels to the hardwood and puckered his lips,
the music went sailing, slathered with quips.
In fact, the witty remarks were many
and the drinks in the air were plenty.
Given the state of the current affiar, I was sure he had all the money.
I was so certain, I made a go at his wallet.
And it pissed him off, because I took all of it.
