I really can’t do last night’s show justice with a simple description. I felt transported back to the 80’s, but this time I wanted to be there. Kool and the Gang was your typical big band soul group. A lot of running around the stage, wide-mouthed high notes and brass instruments blasting away. It was a great start to the night.
As for Van Halen (=VH=), I don’t know how it could have been any better. David Lee Roth was adorned with another one of his unforgettable outfits complete with stretch pants and sparkly jacket. Also, while this may not be something you want to know, his butt still looks damn good in those stretch pants… unexpected. On top of it all he can still do the crazy high kicks but I wasn’t around long enough to see if they were accompanied by the killer mid-air splits and rock jumps.
If there were ever a time that I saw a show of a re-formed band from the 80s or even 90s, I’m glad this was one of ’em. Wow.
